Itinerary
The day starts with a morning pick-up from your hotel in Moshi or Arusha, followed by a scenic drive to Materuni Village, located about 15 km from Moshi town. Upon arrival, a local guide will lead you on a hike through coffee farms and lush forests, heading towards the majestic Materuni Waterfall, which stands about 80 meters high. Along the way, enjoy the stunning views of Kilimanjaro’s lower slopes and learn about the local flora, fauna, and Chagga traditions. Upon reaching the waterfall, take some time to relax, enjoy the breathtaking scenery, and swim in the cool waters.
After the hike, return to Materuni Village for an authentic Chagga coffee-making experience. You will participate in the traditional process of roasting, grinding, and brewing coffee, all while enjoying local songs and dances. A delicious local lunch featuring Chagga dishes, such as banana stew (Machalari) or rice with beans, will be served.
In the afternoon, bid farewell to the villagers and begin the drive back to Arusha or Moshi, arriving at your hotel in the evening, marking the end of an unforgettable Materuni day trip.
